Made from an aluminum alloy material called ultra duralumin (A 7075).
The collar of the axle part that supports the wheel is made with aluminum scraping and coated with Kashima (a hard lubricant alumite). Kashima coating is a process to achieve a smoother surface with a special film of aluminum. It reduces rotational resistance and at the same time improves durability all while delivering a processed weight reduction. 
Since part is always rubbing against the seal, the color is consumed even in normal vehicles.
Just by replacing it as an after-market part, aggressiveness against the seal is also reduced, and a smoother feeling can be obtained.
